regime-backed restrictions on union collective bargaining rights. Governor Scott Walker, responding to the protests said, "Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words - imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong."
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said. "The people of Wisconsin deserve a government that is responsive to their aspirations and that protects their universally recognized human rights."
One teacher, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation said, , described an "eerie feeling" around the capital, even as fear of violence led many people to hunker down in their homes. "You can feel the tension and the anticipation that something big is going to happen," he said. "Everyone is waiting for it."
